Buku-Buku Kafe ends the Summer with Creativity

True to its mission of supporting local creativity, Buku-Buku Kafe is all set to bring Komiket: The Filipino Komiks and Art Market to SM Southmall from May 25 to 26.

Now on its third year, Komiket South 2019 will be Buku-Buku Kafe’s biggest art market yet, with over 80 artists from all over Metro Manila, Laguna, and Cavite bringing their stickers, art prints, comics, zines, and eco-friendly crafts to SM Southmall’s Event Center.

Joining the fun are Amalgamated Specialties Corporation (AMSPEC) with a creative journaling workshop and the cast and crew of Cinemalaya film ANi: The Harvest for an interview and trailer screening. AMSPEC will also be presenting their Crayola TakeNote washable gel pens, while ANi will be selling the comics prologue to the upcoming film during the event.

Representing homegrown creativity is Caviteno arts collective Astrolikha, who will be starting the creative convention with a talk on the southern art scene and a zine-making workshop, proceeds of which will go to Astrolikha’s outreach programs.

SM Southmall Presents the Enchanted Christmas Woodland

SM Southmall transforms into an Enchanted Christmas Woodland, unveiling the annual centerpiece on November 10, 2018. Watch the spirit of giving come to  life as the premier mall of southern Metro Manila launches the holiday season with an interactive play production.

The Enchanted Christmas Woodland tells the tale of CHESTNUT, a newborn gnome, and how she finds her place in the enchanted woodland. SHe realizes that the true meaning of Christmas is brought to life by the spirit of giving. Chestnut shares this discovery with her friends from Almanza Elementary School.

SM Southmall carries this message throughout the season with Santa's Woodland Workshop, his woodland factory inhabited by little gnome assistants. In the Crafts Corner, they teach children to give back to their parents and loved ones with heartfelt messages in written cards. To enter, each child may purchase a Bear of Joy and get a free one donated in their name to a child in need on Christmas Day.

My First Visit at Hoagies

I don't really blog about the food I eat but it looks like I am going to moving forward. I just discovered a Hoagies. And unlike at usual "sub sandwich", this one is a steal. For "only" 88 pesos, you get an 8" sandwich with your choice of fillings, I may say. For my first visit, I got a Tuna Sandwich. Generous servings of tuna spread, tomato, cucumber and lettuce, all in (my bread of choice) wheat bread.

Looks like I will be "abandoning" my first choice of sub-sandwich makers at Quiznos. This move is an economical one from my end. I would still enjoy quality and affordable sandwich and gets a treat to see my food getting prepared.

The store is a small one but it has that peaceful ambiance that I really like. I can watch a movie from my tablet while munching on my sandwich. I will definitely go back to try another variant from their menu. This is a good post-workout meal. I will post my next visit here and will share my dining experience.

My first visit is going to be rated 4/5 stars.
