NOVUHAIR turns favor with Holiday Bash Promo

So you’ve got your festive outfit set and the fancy gift wrapped for your "monito" or "monita". All that’s left undone is a party season-perfect hairstyle.

The fresh out of the shower look can be seductive yet temporary. Blame it to tropical climate, it can spoil your appearance, besides making you feel sweaty and stale. The heat and humidity brought about by extreme weather condition, likewise, dries out the locks easily and make it more fragile.

Adding damage to your delicate strands are the chemical contents of various products on hand. From shampoo to conditioner and hair treatment, down to styling goods to groom it to your liking, their harsh synthetic materials jeopardize the natural oil and luster of your mane.

Because you are what you eat, the fate of your crowning glory is in the plate. Your diet must have the correct balance of vitamins and minerals to supply hair with all that it needs to become shiny and strong. So don’t overindulge, especially this time of the year when gastronomic feasts are spread almost everywhere you go. Be careful on what you take in, thinking that it’s also what you feed your ‘do.

Even stress can wear off the beauty and health of the tress. And that’s exactly what you should avoid this Yuletide season. Never put pressure on yourself just to please everyone. Just take it easy, let your hair down and party all night long.

In this time of gratitude, NOVUHAIR makes everyday "a good hair day" for its valued patrons like you with its Christmas and Year-End Promo. Quick and Healthy Mackerel Pasta

Why is Eating Healthy so hard?

There are many reasons why healthy eating may be a challenge for you. Perhaps it is your busy schedule. This results in limited time to prepare healthy meals. When your schedule starts to interfere with healthy eating habits, you are more likely to skip meals and choose fast foods to eat.

If this sounds like you, then it is time to make healthy eating a priority. When you take care of yourself by eating healthy, you will be more focused, more productive and more efficient. This will keep you in control of your schedule instead of your schedule controlling you!

That being said, going towards this direction will need to start somewhere.

Spaghetti is one of my favorite meals. While I love spaghetti, I also have to watch my weight and try to eat healthy. Switching to healthier options will need to start somewhere and at some point. Let me share with you a quick way to enjoy spaghetti, minus the guilt.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 small canned Uni-Pak Mackerel in Natural Oil (155g)
  • 400 grams spaghetti*, cooked according to package directions
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Chili Flakes
  • *Optional: You can opt for whole-grain spaghetti

RECIPE

  • Cook spaghetti according to package directions.
  • Mince the mackerel. save some of the oil for later.
  • Toss the oil with the drained pasta. If it seems a little dry, add a little more oil.
  • Add the minced mackerel as you toss the pasta.
  • Top with Parmesan Cheese and Chili Flakes

One of the most recommended oily fish, Mackerel is rich in nutrients such as Omega-3 and Omega-fatty acid, vitamins, calcium, iron, Coenzyme Q10 and more. There are numerous ways to enjoy this nutritious fish and Mackerel Pasta is just one of many.

Mackerel is one of the most affordable fish but nutritious food in the market which makes it a good choice for households, but what makes Uni-Pak Mackarel a good choice for mackerel? Uni-Pak Mackerel products adhere to strict quality control standards, and are manufactured using only the freshest ingredients and up-to-date processing and packing facilities.

"Hindi basta nakasanayan, the best na yan.
Kaya basta Mackerel dapat tatak Uni-Pak."

Unioil Opens its First Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Unioil Petroleum Philippines Inc. (Unioil) has unveiled its first electric vehicle (EV) charging station on its newly-opened Unioil Solar Hybrid service station at Congressional Avenue Extension, Quezon City. The state-of-the-art Mitsubishi i-MiEV fully-electric vehicle and the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) were showcased during the event.

Present during the ribbon-cutting ceremony were Unioil Vice President Noel Soriano, Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC) Vice President for Business Planning and Public Relations Department Renato Lampano, and other guests.

"We commend Unioil for its initiative to showcase renewable energy in its first hybrid gasoline station. Like Unioil, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation is striving to reduce carbon footprint by developing technologies for improving fuel economy and electric-powered systems. The Mitsubishi Electric Vehicle (i-MiEV) and Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) are proof of this concept," Lampano said.

"We are very proud to open the first of many Unioil EV charging stations aimed at promoting the use of electric vehicles in the country. We invite everyone to visit our Unioil hybrid station to see and experience the future," Soriano said.

This latest effort is part of Unioil’s "Doing Our Part" campaign which the company launched in November to encourage Filipinos to make a difference in society through small, everyday actions and responsible decisions they make, including the decision to choose a cleaner fuel.

Unioil believes that climate change and environmental degradation are real threats to a sustainable future and quality of life. This is why it continues to lead the way in introducing the cleanest range of petroleum products by offering a complete line of Euro5 performance fuels in September 2017, making it the first petroleum company to upgrade all its fuel products to Euro 5 standard.

To further reduce its carbon footprint, Unioil has started operating its first "hybrid" service station which is partially powered by solar energy. The Unioil station along Congressional Avenue, Quezon City is equipped with the SmartflowerTM, the global leader in intelligent solar energy solutions that features an automated sun tracking technology, making it up to 40% more efficient than conventional fixed-type solar panels. Each SmartflowerTM unit reduces carbon footprint by 4.7 metric tons annually which is equivalent to planting approximately 5,000 trees per year.

Music finds its way back to Marawi through Coke Studio

Music will once again be heard in the streets of Marawi City and in the hearts of Maranaos as the government and members of the private sector work hand-in-hand to rebuild the city, its communities, and homes. In support of various efforts, Coca-Cola Philippines, through Coke Studio, spearheaded a hydration drive in evacuation camps, including the Maria Cristina Evacuation Camp, Buruun Gym, Sta. Elena Evacuation Camp and Saguiaran Gym, where around 5,000 Maranaos are sheltered.

Each family received various Coca-Cola products, including three 6-liter bottles of Wilkins Distilled water, and Coca-Cola shirts, while young local musicians sang OPM hits for the crowd. Customer partner Shakey’s also provided snacks for the evacuees.

The evacuation center in Saguiaran, which has one of the biggest concentrations of Maranaos, hosted a mini-concert featuring a Coke Studio bands The Ransom Collective and Franco. They sang their own songs and distributed hydration kits to the evacuees.

"This is our way of showing support and solidarity with the Filipino people – to be able to contribute in the rebuilding process. Music is one of the things that threads through every person, regardless of age, religion, culture, and socio-economic bracket," said Stephan Czypionka, Marketing Director of Coca-Cola Philippines. "We are committed to help the communities that we serve, especially in times like these that we have to come together to rebuild not just the physical structures, but most importantly, the lives of the people."

Coke Studio was launched early this year and successfully changed the OPM landscape with its creative collaborations with various artists. It also served as a platform for teens and young adults to come together, drawn by their common love for music.

The Filipino youth is also coming together to help rebuild Marawi, driven by their passion for music. A benefit concert at the Mall of Asia concert grounds, and a recyclables collection drive are just some of the fund-raising initiatives to build schoolhouses through the Little Red Schoolhouse program implemented by the Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines.

The construction of a school building is part of the commitment of Coca-Cola Philippines through the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation’s (PDRF) United4Marawi campaign. The Company also joined the PDRF in a three-day medical mission for the evacuees in Iligan City. Volunteer health care professionals provided check-ups, surgical procedures, and psychiatric intervention to the evacuees.

The Company also provided for the daily hydration needs of the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines stationed in Mindanao.

"We are committed in helping rebuild Marawi and the communities impacted by this conflict. In partnership with relevant government agencies, we in the private sector will be bringing our sustainability initiatives to the area," said Jonah de Lumen-Pernia, Public Affairs and Communications Director of Coca-Cola Philippines. "Our 5by20 entrepreneurship programs will be provided for the spouses of soldiers deployed in Marawi, while water systems will also be installed in the communities. We’ll also build a Little Red Schoolhouse."

Coke Studio staged a benefit concert for the rehabilitation of Marawi on Saturday, December 9th, at the MOA Concert Grounds. Coke Studio artists such as Abra, Gab and John of Urbandub, The Ransom Collective, Gracenote, Moonstar88, Autotelic, Ebe Dancel, Franco, Reese Lansangan, BP Valenzuela, Sandwich, Noel Cabangon, and Curtismith, joined various school bands for the benefit concert. A collection drive of PET bottles was done on site to help raise funds.

Upside Down Museum: See Things from a Different View

Ever wondered what the world would look like upside down?

Wonder no more! A relatively new museum in Manila gives Filipinos a glimpse of an upside down world. Inspired by the Upside Down Museums in Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, and in the US, the Manila version opened to public in October of last year. The Upside Down Museum would send you in topsy-turvy town with optical illusions, everything upside down: a house, a bridge with real cars attached to the ceiling, and a whole lot more.

The Museum extends up to 1700 sq. feet in floor area. More than enough for hours of fun and amusement! It features 15 themes that are perfect for your upside down photoshoot!

Some of the themes/galleries in the museum are:

  • The leaning house: a house design that seems to be falling on its side;
  • Levitation area: a room where guests can take a photo that makes them appear to be floating on air;
  • The upside down house: several galleries that shows parts of the house such as the bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, laundry area, and living room flipped.
  • The mirror house: an area that allows guests to appear hanging from a building’s facade;
  • Spilled Milk: an over sized model of a spilled carton of milk where guests can pose for a photo;
  • Cupid’s Corner: a wall where lovers can pretend to be hit by Cupid’s bow;
  • Goliath Shoes: a pair of gigantic shoes where guests can pretend to be miniature humans.

Flex your creativity and muscles! If you are having a hard time conceptualizing what pose you will exert for that perfect shot, The Upside Down Museum has several museum marshals that roam around the place who can guide and can assist you - take your photos and provide cool suggestions for your perfect pose. You can also check out LCD monitors placed in key locations as your reference. A gallery of photos from previous visitors are shown in the monitor.

Some tips to maximize your visit:

  • Charge your mobile phone and/or cameras. Bring extra batteries or a power bank. Guests are encouraged to take a lot of photos.
  • Call beforehand to check if there is a scheduled field trip or company outing scheduled that day. This is to avoid long lines and photo bombers, if you can, visit during off-peak hours or weekdays.
  • For references on how to pose, look at the flat-screen TVs where they showcase the best photos from previous visitors.
  • Edit your photos before uploading. Crop and rotate as needed. There are a lot of unedited Upside Down museum photos uploaded by visitors online.
I also heard that there is an ongoing construction at the 2nd floor. That would mean more galleries to come back for. I am definitely coming back when the 2nd floor opens to the public. I also hope that the entrance fee will remain at 450 per head.

Upside Down Museum is located at Boom Na Boom Grounds, CCP Complex, Roxas Blvd. Pasay City. The museum is across World Trade Center, behind Wensha Spa and Star City. Ticket prices: ₱450 per person; ₱330 for senior citizens and PWD. Birthday celebrants and kids below 3 years old get in for free. Operating hours: 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesdays to Sundays.
